A complete review of Vauxhall emergency open and start procedures for 2026 models finds no changes to any of the models. As it happens only the Mokka and Frontera manuals were new.

Emergency, or back-up, open and start procedures become necessary in keyless start vehicles if the battery in the key fob dies or if electrical interference is encountered.

The company continues to keep things simple for entering the vehicle as each has a visible key hole at the back of the driver’s door handle. So, an emergency open procedure only requires the removal of a mechanical key from the key fob.

And in truth, several Vauxhall models remain strictly key start.

All the back-up start procedures are identical across the line. The key fob is placed on the left side of the steering column, as seen to the right, where the car can recognize it start as normal. The location is marked, as can be seen in the image.
