Native navigation fails to boost battery charge speed

EV charging.

So, with the Memorial Day weekend coming up, it was time to charge the Niro, and this time I would use the native navigation to give the high-voltage battery its pre-charge conditioning.

So, the nav is set to go to a Level 3 charger, nine miles away, as can be seen in the first image.

Native nav limitation

The native navigation, which was left on, is not up on traffic or route options, so I opened Android Auto on the phone and followed the app’s routing suggestions.

Resulting charge rate

Regardless, I got to the station, plugged in and the results are in the next photo. 50 kW. The charge never got past 55 kW.

Its back to the drawing board as this is a truly disappointing result. My next attempt will be to use “winter mode”, which also warms the battery, but I’m not hopeful that anything will actually change.

On the plus side, total range was calculated at 286 miles, up a bit from 283 miles from the previous charge.
