Ford recalls nearly 260,000 cars — again

Ford recalls.

Precious Ford recalls are getting a recall because the vehicles were “previously repaired incorrectly”. Now, its not the first time a company has had to redo a previous fix. But what stands out is that the recalls are for vastly different problems even as they are from the same manufacturer. Both were announced June 12.

The first involves over 255,000 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles who’s engines may stall due to a canister purge valve malfunction. They had previously been repaired, incorrectly, under recall number 18V735.

Oddly, dealers will update the powertrain control module (PCM) software to correct the problem. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, 2026. Ford‘s recall number is 26S40.

The second recalled recall is for 4,151 vehicles with an electrical issue. They are 2019 Ford Mustang, Lincoln Nautilus, and Navigator vehicles whose instrument cluster may go blank on start-up. They were previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 19V076.

The result are vehicles that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, “Controls and Displays.”

Ford and Lincoln dealers will reprogram the Instrument Panel Cluster Assembly (IPC) software. Owner notification letters are also expected to be mailed July 6. 2026. Ford‘s number for this recall is 26C27.

In both cases, owners may contact customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6, 2026.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
