Vehicle locator lighting indicator

Locator lighting.

This is a Vehicle Locator Lighting Indicator symbol. It comes courtesy of Vauxhall without any indication as to when it will be seen or what color it will carry. We will speculate on two possibilities.

  • Before continuing, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, read on below.
  • Otherwise, you can return to our main Manufacturer Symbols pages and scan again!

Locator lighting, which is a function available on any number of models with a connection to General Motors, is intended to locate a vehicle in weak lighting conditions or to aid in lighting a path to its know location using the remote control.

Pressing the lock button two times will set off an eye-catching animation. The headlights will remain on for several minutes.

Thus, the driver would be outside the vehicle while this function is active and an indicator is pointless. However, there are two scenarios where it would come into play.

We have chosen to use the yellow/amber/orange color, as it may be a fault indicator, pointing out the function is not available and needs repair.

A gray scale color might be used as the function is an option that must be activated in the vehicles settings. Thus, the indicator may appear after the setting has been chosen and again on startup noting that it is active or available.

Remember — only proper service and repair procedures will ensure the safe and reliable operation of your car. In addition, proper safety procedures and precautions, such as the use of safety goggles, the right tools and the equipment should be followed at all times to eliminate the possibility of personal injury or improper service which could damage the vehicle or compromise its safety.

Technology is always changing and what is current and accurate today may be literally out-of-date and inaccurate tomorrow. And when it comes to the current state of flux in the auto industry, nothing is more true.
