Seat Backrest Not Engaged Dashboard Indicator

Seat Backrest

These are Seat Backrest Not Engaged or Latched Indicator symbols. It is seen in black and white in the center information display or in yellow/amber/orange as a more traditional warning light. Each will be seen along with a text message that will identify the exact seat that is actually in need of attention.

  • Before moving on, is this truly your symbol??
  • If not, you can return to our main Picture Symbols page and scan again!

These are related to second and third row seats that can be folded down for cargo carrying. The seat may not be latched in the down or up position for the warning to be issued.

In most cases, it will be a simple matter of folding the seat backrest back until it engages. However, there are electronics involved, so if it turns out that all the identified seat is fully latched, do a restart of the vehicle and check that the indicator is off. If not, see your dealer or authorized repair shop.
